Job Title: Senior Substation Engineer Overview:A leading EPC firm is seeking an experienced Senior Substation Engineer to support the design and execution of substation projects. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior staff to deliver high-quality electrical engineering solutions and ensure successful project outcomes. Responsibilities:Support electrical design for substations, including both air-insulated (AIS) and gas-insulated (GIS) stations.Develop key documents such as general arrangement drawings, grounding and raceway plans, one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and connection diagrams.Prepare electrical lists, Bills of Materials, and cable schedules.Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash analysis.Execute calculations for grounding, cable sizing, transformer sizing, battery sizing, and lightning protection.Collaborate on design schedules, budgets, and project execution during construction, start-up, and commissioning phases.Conduct field inspections and gather relevant design data.Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to complete project tasks.Occasionally travel to project sites and provide on-site support. You will be working on utility-scale, HV projects, and be confident in handling multiple projects in your pipeline at one time. The main responsibilities will include:- Overseeing the lifecycle of grid connections - for this, you will require a DETAILED understanding of German laws and regulations. - Communicating with TSOs and other stakeholders - you must be highly experienced in this, with a proven track record of maintaining relationships with grid operators. - You will be technically involved with the development and planning of the network. This includes cable routes, network studies/feasibilities studies for load flow, compensation systems, etc.- As well as the planning and design of the grid connection, you will also cover this for substations and transformers at various levels, but particularly HV.- Working with external EPCs to develop and realise projects - this includes coordinating all those involved in the construction phase.
