Role Overview
This position involves leading the commercial side of energy transactions, particularly across the central and eastern U.S. market areas. The individual will be responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing revenue agreements tied to power assets, often involving renewable or merchant generation. A major emphasis will be placed on direct engagement with wholesale energy players - including utilities, public agencies, and corporate consumers - across key grid regions.

Description

  • Drive the origination and execution of structured energy agreements, with emphasis on long-term sales of power, grid services, and environmental attributes.

  • Focus efforts in key U.S. transmission zones where the organization has operating or planned generation; foster and deepen relationships with strategic partners across the buying landscape.

  • Identify and deliver creative offtake arrangements, including options, behind-the-meter contracts, basis-linked pricing mechanisms, and hub-settled deals.

  • Work cross-functionally with regulatory, asset performance, and capital teams to align commercial strategies with broader investment priorities.

  • Monitor opportunities through procurement channels, engage in bilateral outreach, and maintain a strong presence among market participants active in mid-to-long-term procurement of energy-related products.

  • Evaluate market dynamics to guide decisions around site selection and counterparty targeting for new infrastructure deployment or acquisitions.

  • Coordinate internal approvals and support legal execution of enabling documentation - including onboarding of new trading relationships and risk instruments.

  • Re-engage existing customers and partners to optimize or revise legacy commercial arrangements.

  • Maintain deep familiarity with market drivers and regulatory signals impacting energy trading and infrastructure valuation.

  • Support M&A and greenfield development by contributing to financial assumptions, commercial diligence, and valuation modeling of revenue streams.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical, business, or analytical field.

  • 5+ years of commercial experience in U.S. competitive power markets, preferably active in structured deals or utility-scale renewables.

  • Well-developed network among load-serving entities, corporates (especially digital infrastructure and high-load operators), and energy traders.

  • Proven track record negotiating commercial contracts tied to generation assets.

  • Strong working knowledge of market design, regional constraints, forward pricing, and policy drivers that affect project bankability.

  • Willingness to travel as needed for customer engagement and market coverage.

Ideally, you also have…

  • Prior involvement in environmental credit trading or capacity markets.

  • Familiarity with renewable contract structures and common commercial risk allocation mechanisms (e.g., production thresholds, curtailment clauses, price shaping protections).
