Your Role:As Chief Estimator, you will have the opportunity to grow into a team leadership position, leading a team of 4 estimators. You will work closely with senior leadership (VP, Directors, C-suite) to create self-perform estimates, conduct cost analysis, and manage full RFP review processes. You'll lead from the front, adhering to their estimating processes and be hands on. Responsibilities Reviews contract documents, including isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings, to assess requirements for large-scale hard-bid/lump sum, construction management, and design-build projects (e.g., bonding, insurance).Develops critical path schedules with key milestones and deadlines to ensure timely project completion.Conducts comprehensive quantity take-offs for labor, equipment, and materials, verifying pricing from procurement and addressing cost escalation to align with project needs.Oversees pricing for general expenses and project-specific requirements on medium to large lump sum and construction management projects.Reviews and finalizes bid submissions, ensuring accurate tender documentation is submitted to the client alongside the chief estimator.Performs risk and opportunity assessments for inclusion in the risk register.Collaborates with external consultants and project management teams to estimate budgets and coordinate the tendering process for clients.Assists the chief estimator in gathering and analyzing historical data and industry benchmarks.Tracks client-specific success metrics, understands business objectives, and promotes innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.Provides management with insights on strategic pursuit opportunities and initiatives. QualificationsBachelor's degree in a relevant field, trade experience, or equivalent background.7+ years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, with at least 12 months of onsite exposure preferred.Proficient in self-perform estimating and productivity analysis.Strong grasp of construction methods, scheduling, sequencing, risk mitigation, and project timelines, serving as a district leader in these areas.In-depth expertise in bid preparation, including quantity take-offs, subcontractor procurement, pricing strategies, and bid finalization.Skilled in interpreting and teaching contract terms across various delivery models, with the ability to assess risks and opportunities.Well-versed in bid processes and contract structures, including lump sum, GMP, unit price, design-build, target pricing, and cost-reimbursable models.Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
