Planning Manager - Solar & BESS Development

Salary Dependent on Experience: £40,000 - 50,000
Piper Maddox are representing a leading European IPP with the growth of their UK division in 2025. Having been in the space for a number of years and sporting a significant project pipeline, it is a very exciting time to be joining up with their expanding team.
Our client take projects from the very first inception, through development into the RTB stage, handing over into construction, and finally finishing up with an operational asset. Their technology focus is on utility scale Solar and Battery Storage projects.
This company has a presence in six global territories with their overall pipeline totaling close to 20GW. In the UK, they have over 20 projects in their development pipeline, split up between TCPA and DCO applications. As such, they are looking to add another head to their existing planning function.
This role would slot into their team in the middle of their Head of Planning and current junior members of staff. As such, this role would suit someone looking to take on more responsibilities within projects while also having room to grow and develop their career on the clientside of the space.
Your role would include:
> Management of full planning applications from preparation, submission, post-consent, and
potential planning appeal if needed.
> Preparation and review of planning documentation, review and analysis of planning
reports, and contributing to complex EIA matters.
> Management of external consultants within planning applications to ensure timely and high
quality work.
> Representing this company at public consultation events, liaising with local & national
planning authorities, as well as managing statutory consultees.
This would be a fantastic opportunity for someone working in a planning role for a renewable energy developer who is looking to make a shift into an IPP to see the whole project lifecycle and take a higher level of project ownership. Ideally we are looking between 2-4 years of developer side planning experience.
You would be joining up with a highly collaborative and innovative team who are all working towards a common goal.
